Essential Duties | Primary duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses (4-4 load), academic advising, and service involvement in Department of Education, School of Education and university service. Carries out an agenda of scholarly work and professional development. |
Minimum Qualifications | Earned doctorate with 1-3 years higher education teaching experience required. Evidence of 1-3 years of P-12 teaching experience and a current teaching license is preferred. Demonstrated training in Science of Reading best practices, with evidence of applying Science of Reading-aligned instruction to prepare The W’s teacher candidates for the Mississippi Foundations of Reading licensure exam is required. LETRS Facilitator or AIM Pathway Facilitator training recommended but not required. Completion of teacher-level LETRS or equivalent AIM Pathway coursework is expected. This position is designated for a reading specialist who is qualified to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels; is responsible for a 4-4 teaching load; takes part in School of Education initiatives related to innovations in curriculum and delivery; is involved in academic advising as well as the department’s student recruitment and retention strategies; and is involved in other service to the Department, School, and university, and carries out an agenda of scholarly work and professional development (research, conference participation, etc.). |
