Essential Duties
Primary duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses (4-4 load), academic advising, and service involvement in Department of Education, School of Education and university service. Carries out an agenda of scholarly work and professional development.
Minimum Qualifications
Earned doctorate with 1-3 years higher education teaching experience required. Evidence of 1-3 years of P-12 teaching experience and a current teaching license is preferred. Demonstrated training in Science of Reading best practices, with evidence of applying Science of Reading-aligned instruction to prepare The W’s teacher candidates for the Mississippi Foundations of Reading licensure exam is required. LETRS Facilitator or AIM Pathway Facilitator training recommended but not required. Completion of teacher-level LETRS or equivalent AIM Pathway coursework is expected. This position is designated for a reading specialist who is qualified to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels; is responsible for a 4-4 teaching load; takes part in School of Education initiatives related to innovations in curriculum and delivery; is involved in academic advising as well as the department’s student recruitment and retention strategies; and is involved in other service to the Department, School, and university, and carries out an agenda of scholarly work and professional development (research, conference participation, etc.).
Job Description Summary
Mississippi University for Women (MUW) invites applications who have an earned doctorate in Education and preparation from a regionally accredited university for a tenure track position as an Assistant Professor of Education in the Department of Education beginning fall 2025. The position requires excellence in teaching, service and scholarly & professional activity. Summer teaching may be available. Those who are “ABD” and within one year of completion of all requirements for the doctorate may apply.
